2008 sees the completion of ten years of continuous delivery of Pintsize Theatre performances across Nottingham City, Nottinghamshire County and the East Midlands. Our year started with a reprisal of ‘What She Would Have Wanted?’ our play and workshop on money and the family which took in a variety of audiences in nearly 40 different venues across Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. These venues were more diverse than any other tour attempted by the company ranging from schools to pensioner groups, women’s centres to day services for adults with learning difficulties and a hugely eclectic mix of other community venues. As with our 2007 tour we received terrific praise for not only the play but the drama workshop and resourcing which accompanied it, as one audience member commented:

‘The production, direction and acting were of the highest calibre. Both myself and others found the production stimulating and proved to evoke great emotion during the performance. I also enjoyed the workshop. Well done!’

Pintsize Theatre would like to thank the Nottingham Royal Centre’s Education Department, Nelson’s Solicitors and Arts and Business for their support in bringing the production to life. We are also particularly proud of the fact that the project was shortlisted for the 2008 East Midlands Arts and Business Employees Award and was also given an honourable mention in the Champions of the Year Award.

Spring 2008 will see the development of a brand new project aimed at both schools and community groups funded by ‘SPIRITA’ the east midlands social housing trust and supported by Nottinghamshire County Council and a variety of arts based agencies. Entitled ‘HOOD’ the play and workshop focuses on the reasons why community relationships can fracture (or not exist at all) and the effects on individuals and their families of anti social behaviour perpetrated by both young and old. Development of the project will take place in April and May of this year with performances running into July 08.

Finally Autumn 08 will see the ninth consecutive revival of our play and workshop on teenage pregnancy ‘Kids Having Kids’. This project has now become an integral part of the SRE curriculum in nearly all Nottinghamshire county and city schools and has garnered positive praise throughout. As one teacher pointed out last year after a performance at Garibaldi School, Mansfield:

‘A fantastic workshop. The groups I accompanied were SEN/EBD – it was the most engaged and focused I have ever seen them. It was particularly lovely to see one student shine doing their ‘acting bit’ in the play. Many thanks.’

Initial bookings are already underway and the tour, as in previous years, will run from mid September to December 08. Please contact the company via the website for any further information relating to any of the above.
