Charlotte Sanderson as Lola 2009 tour ‘I Want! I Want!’
2010 sees the completion of twelve years of continuous delivery of Pintsize Theatre performances across Nottingham City, Nottinghamshire County and the East Midlands. Our year has started with a revival of
I Want! I Want!’ (Years 5 – 8) which examines the issue of alcohol use within the family, focusing specifically on female binge drinking. A total of 38 performances took place in both primary and secondary schools and met with the same extremely positive response summed up by the Head of Year 6, Helen Reynolds at Birklands Primary School, Mansfield on our 09 tour,

‘Again, another wonderfully produced, thought provoking performance that really makes the children think about the issues associated with alcohol. The children were enthralled from beginning to end due to the realistic portrayal of the subject and the absolutely fantastic acting. The issues talked about in the workshop helped to reinforce and confirm messages that the children have already discussed in drugs education lessons. By making things ‘real’ it furthers their understanding. Thank you’.

Parents who attended our 2010 performances in January and February, were as equally positive as those who witnessed the project last year. As one parent of a year 7 student commented at Portland Comprehensive,

Matt Grainger as Lee and Kristy Guest as Karen 2008 tour ‘Kids Having Kids’
‘The scenarios in the play were very relevant to the audience and the subject. The actors were excellent in portraying the different emotions. The audience seemed engaged from the start. Facilitation was very engaging and hit all key points. Thank you!’

Please note that, due to popular demand, ‘I Want! I Want!’ will be available in the Summer term of 2010 – dates to be confirmed shortly. An adapted version for older students will also be made available during this tour.

Finally Autumn 2010 will see the eleventh consecutive revival of our play and workshop on teenage pregnancy
Kids Having Kids’.
This project has now become an integral part of the SRE curriculum in nearly all Nottinghamshire county and city schools and has garnered positive praise throughout. As one teacher pointed out last year after a performance at Valley Comprehensive, Worksop:

‘I thought the performance and workshop were absolutely superb. The actors were excellent – extremely professional and talented. I thought the increased emphasis on the role of alcohol this year was valuable. My staff and students really enjoyed the day – I have had many positive comments! Thanks to Ian and the team’.

Initial bookings are already underway and the tour, as in previous years, will run from mid September to November 2010. Please contact the company via the website for any further information relating to any of the above.
